BICCO FARMS is committed to the preservation and conservation of all natural resources, therefore the water resource is a priority whilst permanently maintaining management and control strategies .
Among the main strategies is the collection of rainwater, management of vegetation cover, drip irrigation and energy saving equipment. The collection of rainwater is reached through the construction of reservoirs, which comply with all current legal regulations, including improvements that reduce the environmental impact.
The initial criteria for the construction of a reservoir is:
- The terrain should be relatively flat.
- Its filling must be supported by a runoff.
- Comply with provisions determined by City Hall.
All the requirements are important, however, those that require more time are the topographic studies of planimetry and altimetry; along with the geotechnical study; which allows the measurement if the resistance of the terrain in different depths and the stabilization of slopes. The CAR (Controling local entitiy) makes a visit corroborating that in the future construction there are no protected areas, nor does it structurally affect eco-system services and biota. These artificial reservoirs become habitats for many species, most of which are endangered, such as the Tingua (Rallus semiplumbeus), and other visitors such as the "Anas discors." * Note: One of the materials that the reservoir will have will be the geomembrane, which is a waterproofing tool; avoiding water losses through infiltration, evapotranspiration and soil erosion.
